I heard about your website on a CBC radio program yesterday afternoon, and thought it was quite interesting as my grandmother was a warbride. She is on the list of WWII warbrides as Mrs Gavin. I thought I would update you with some information.
Robina Alice Gavin nee Pratt
DOB Sept 6, 1926
Occupation Clerk
Husband Allan Gavin
Date of marriage August 1, 1945.
Children Carolyn, June, David, Inga and Bruce

She was born in Edinburgh but raised in Glasgow Scotland

She lived in St John's NL for the first year while my grandfather did a trade in carpentry. She lived in Westport NL with her husband, and raised her family there til they moved to Lab City in 1963. They later moved back to Westport, back to Lab City, then to Pasadena. My Grandmother passed this past June. She was a wonderful woman with a big heart and a good sense of humor. Although she lived in Newfoundland most of her life she never did lose her Scottish accent, and it was a lot more pronounced when she spoke with her sisters back in Scotland. I have attached a couple of pics. One of their wedding day and one of their 50 th anniversary. In the background you can see a picture of my grandfather in his uniform, and my grandmother before she moved to Newfoundland, she was 16 in that picture.
